Assesment and Diagnosis

X-Rays
Imaging Studies
X-rays are a crucial part of the scoliosis assessment:
- Standing full-spine X-rays: These provide a clear view of the entire spine in both frontal and lateral planes.
- Cobb angle measurement: This is used to quantify the degree of spinal curvature.
- Risser sign assessment: This helps determine skeletal maturity, which is important for treatment planning.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
Imaging Studies
In some cases, an MRI may be recommended:
- Spinal cord abnormalities: MRI can detect conditions like syringomyelia or tethered cord that may be associated with scoliosis.
- Disc and soft tissue evaluation: MRI provides detailed images of the discs, nerves, and surrounding soft tissues.

Additional Assessments
Imaging Studies
Depending on the individual case, we may also perform:
- Pulmonary function tests: For patients with severe curves to assess any impact on lung function.
- CT scan: In order to provide us with greater information for pre-surgical planning.
